Steinway selling tips

What are buyers looking for?

  1. Buyers want to save time shopping.  They can get more information on the web about a piano before contacting a seller than they can in other situations.
  2. Buyers want more comprehensive information and education about the pianos available, so they aren’t buying in the dark.  Most buyers don’t know a lot about pianos when they begin their search.
  3. Buyers want to find pianos they might not easily find otherwise.
  4. Buyers want to take advantage of lower piano values due to the decreased dollar value.

TIP:

Pictures of your piano are a necessity. If you don’t have a digital camera of your own, ask your friends or family to assist you. Make sure your picture files are edited in size and cropped to look nice in a photo editing program like Photoshop (save files to a size no larger than 900 pixels on the long side).

There are basically two kinds of pictures, technical shots and beauty shots. Beauty shots, show the piano off in it’s decor or show how beautiful the piano really presents itself. These are helpful to us as we present your instrument to others. Technical pictures on the other hand, give us a partial evaluation of the instrument and help us determine the actual market value of your Steinway.  Specific pictures of the keytops, lyre, piano legs, strings etc., are very helpful and sometimes serve as both tech. shots and beauty shots.

We hope this tip was helpful and we look forward to helping you liquidate your piano.
